Nail Designs that Last Longer
You
spend a lot of time getting that perfect look for you nails and it
shows! A few days later though and your nails look like they have gone
through a blender! We all love the hundreds of creative expressions that
nail designs give us, but which ones will last longer?Honestly, a really
artsy design can be a fabulous boost for that special occasion or
perfect outfit, but let’s face it, most of us are out there working and
putting daily stress on our nails and we need duration through the week
more often than we need flash and glam! What kind of nail care and
designs will outlast the others? Let’s take a look at a few options.
When it comes to designs that will last longer than the others,
stickers and appliqués are not going to fall into this category. They
are slightly raised from the nail and have opportunities to snag and
catch on things. Once a sticker or appliqué rips off of the nail,
immediate attention is needed to mend the appearance. They look great,
the designs are endless, but for lasting duration, they are not a first
pick.
Natural nails are a blessing that most of us do not have, but those
who do may not be at an advantage either. Natural nails chip, break and
split far easier than gel or acrylic nails no matter how many base coats
and top coats are applied. How many of us know what a nuisance it is to
have to stop what you are doing in order to repair a split nail? How
many of us have snagged our own clothing with a torn nail? Natural nails
are beautiful, but the designs on these nails may not last the longest
either.

Acrylic and gel tips are by far the longest lasting option out there.
Yes, they need regular care and filling but there are ways to extend
their care and make them last longer than other options.
• Keep the length of the nail at a reasonable length if you work with
your hands a lot.
• Wearing gloves when cleaning will extend the life of the nail even
though they are an inconvenience. Knowing that every time your acrylic
nails come into contact with cleaners breaks down the acrylic over time
should help inspire you to don those rubber gloves.
• Getting hand massages and taking calcium will improve the
circulation of the nails and encourage growth. Increased growth also
increases the need for fill ins however, having a healthy nail bed for
the acrylic to attach to is much healthier in the long run.
• As nails start to grow out after having the gels or acrylics put
on, there will be a visible gap of ‘fill’ space. One way to lengthen the
time between fills is to not push the cuticle back. You can often extend
the length of fill time by days with this simple trick.
One
last thing about gels and acrylic nails; the classic French manicure
will always look great until your nail grows out. You will begin to see
your natural nail line underneath the design that sends you right back
to your nail technician to re do. Depending on how fast your nails grow
the French manicure is not necessarily the longest lasting design for
your nails. There are many other alternatives out there to choose from.
So play around and find which designs will last the longest for you
through the week. |
